Please inform your doctor of any medical conditions you have as this may affect the preparation required for your operation. Please remember to mention all the medications you usually take, and make sure you know which medications to stop before surgery. It is also very important to inform us of known allergies to medication, food ingredients or other substances. Some women will need to have some special medicine to help empty their bowels the day before surgery.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (a type of painkiller) should be discontinued 5 days before surgery and withheld until 72 hours after the procedure. A list of anti-inflammatory drugs can be found below.
